A Cleansing for the Threshold of the New Year
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (AMPC)
The Prayer
Father God,
I come before Your altar with trembling hands and an open heart. Like incense rising in the morning light, I lift this prayer to You… a fragrance of surrender, a holy offering of all that has been.
I release to You the old year.
The pain that clung to my shoulders like a heavy cloak…I lay it down at Your feet. The disappointments that whispered lies in the night… silence them with Your truth. The weariness that settled deep in my bones, I exchange it for Your rest. The resentments I’ve carried like stones in my pockets, I empty them into Your hands, for they were never mine to hold.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
I renounce every mindset of lack.
Every thought that said “not enough”…I declare it a lie. Every belief that limited Your abundance—I cast it into the sea of Your forgetfulness. Every fear that whispered of scarcity…I answer it with Your promise of provision. For You are Jehovah Jireh, my Provider, and Your resources never run dry.
“And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 AMPC)
I receive Your cleansing.
Wash me with hyssop, Lord, until I am whiter than snow. Let Your Living Water flow through every hidden place, every wounded memory, every broken dream. Purify my heart. Renew my mind. Restore my soul.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10 AMPC)
I stand at the threshold of hope.
Hope…that joyful expectation that good is coming! Not wishful thinking, but confident assurance that You are already working all things together for my good. I see the dawn breaking. I hear the sound of abundance in the rustling leaves. I feel the shift in the atmosphere.
“May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.” (Romans 15:13 AMPC)
I embrace the new.
This new year is a blank page in Your book of grace. It is a garden waiting to be planted. It is a canvas stretched and primed for Your masterpiece. I am not who I was yesterday. I am becoming who You created me to be.
“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 AMPC)
I declare blessing over this new season.
I shall lack no good thing, for the Lord is my Shepherd. I shall walk in divine favor, for His face shines upon me. I shall overflow with abundance, for He gives seed to the sower and bread for food. I shall bear much fruit, for I am planted by streams of living water.
“Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy; Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]!” (Psalm 103:2-5 AMPC)
I step forward in faith.
My past does not define me. My pain does not own me. My lack does not limit me. For I am a child of the Most High God, an heir of the Kingdom, a carrier of His presence, a vessel of His glory.
This is my year of breakthrough. This is my year of restoration. This is my year of overflow. This is my year of new beginnings.
“For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” (Jeremiah 29:11 AMPC)
Amen and amen.
A Blessing for the New Year
May the Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).…Numbers 6:24-26 (AMPC)
The old has gone. The new has come. Step forward, beloved. Your best days are ahead.
