As we were praying this morning, we were drawn to a moment in Luke 4. Jesus had been led by the Spirit into the wilderness. He fasted for forty days. He was hungry. He was weak. And He was tempted.
Then Scripture says something striking:
When the devil had ended every temptation, he left Him until a more opportune time.
That phrase matters. The enemy looks for opportune times, moments of weakness, fatigue, hunger, or transition.
And often, those moments come right before promotion.
Testing Often Precedes Advancement
Jesus’ wilderness came before His public ministry. Before miracles. Before authority was revealed.
Testing is not proof that you are off track. It can be confirmation that you are stepping into God’s will.
As we prayed, it felt clear that someone reading this feels like they’ve been through the meat grinder lately. You’ve been tired. Pressed. Tested. And maybe even wondering if God led you into this.
The answer is not that you missed it. The answer may be that this is preparation.
The Enemy Is After the Word
We were also drawn to the parable of the sower in Matthew 13, Mark 4, and Luke 8. The pattern is consistent. The enemy’s strategy is simple.
He comes to steal the Word before it can take root.
If he can steal the Word, he can steal belief.
If he can steal belief, he can stop fruit.
The battle is not primarily about circumstances. It is about whether the Word of God remains alive and active in your heart.

When the Noise Gets Loud
There was a moment shared in prayer about a season where everything seemed to break at once, burst pipes, gas leaks, and appliances failing. It felt excessive.
But the word that came was this:
It’s not excessive. It’s loud.
Sometimes chaos gets loud because God is trying to get our attention, not to punish us, but to realign us. When everything feels overwhelming, the question is not “Why is this happening?” but “Where is my faith right now?”
When storms get loud, faith must get clear.
Faith or Character
Testing generally exposes one of two things…faith or character.
Is your faith being challenged?
Or is your character being refined?
In both cases, the answer is the same. Return to truth. Jesus answered every temptation with “It is written.” Not emotion. Not panic. Not self-rescue.
Truth steadies the soul.
Truth silences deception.
Truth restores clarity.
When You’re Exhausted and Hope Feels Thin
Exhaustion is an opportune time. The enemy knows that. Fatigue lowers resistance. When you’re tired, discouraged, or overwhelmed, doubt creeps in more easily.
But this is also how strength is forged.
Think of medical residents who train under pressure. Sleep deprived. Tested. Forced to rely on what has already been infused into them. Eventually it becomes instinct.
God is forming that kind of reflex in you.
Looking to Him must become your default setting. Your knee-jerk response. Before panic. Before fear. Before fixing it yourself.
Hold Your Ground
You have already seen God bring you through things you once thought would break you. He has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again.
The Word of God is not just true for everyone else. It is true for you.
If you feel like hope is thinning, if exhaustion is pressing in, if circumstances feel loud and chaotic…hold your ground.
Look to Him first.
Speak truth.
Stay aligned.
This is not the end of your story. It may be a boot camp season. It may be a refining moment. But God is not absent in it.
He is with you.
He is shaping you.
And He will turn this around.
Know that you are being prayed for.
