This morning in prayer, I felt a deep awareness of many hearts weighed down with disappointment. Maybe you’ve been waiting a very long time for an answer to prayer. Maybe it hasn’t come the way you thought it would or at all. That kind of delay can settle into the soul as heaviness, even oppression or depression. You may have even found yourself ready to quit, to give up hope altogether.
But beloved, hear this: “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully” (1 Peter 5:7 AMPC).

The Burden of Deferred Hope
Proverbs 13:12 tells us, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” We all know the truth of those words. When the breakthrough doesn’t come in the way or timing we expected, discouragement can creep in. Disappointment clouds our vision and makes it harder to believe that good is still ahead.
But here is the invitation I sense the Father is extending today: don’t carry that disappointment by yourself. Write it down. Journal it out. Pour every worry, every sorrow, every “why hasn’t it happened yet?” onto the page. Empty your heart before Him so He can refill it with truth.
Be Radically Open
Sometimes in seasons of pain, we unintentionally open our hearts to lies from the enemy…lies that say we’re forgotten, unloved, or that God has no intention of answering. But those are not the Father’s words. He speaks only truth, and His truth always comes wrapped in love.
He wants you to be radically open to hearing Him again, to letting His love-soaked truth set you free. Healing comes when His voice cuts through the fog of heaviness and reveals the bigger picture. He knows what’s ahead. He sees what you can’t. And He longs to walk you through it, step by step.
A Resource for Your Journey
As I prayed, I was reminded of a book that blessed me: God Talks: How to Have a Friendship with God Even If You’ve Made a Million Mistakes by Ed Rush. I’ve linked it on the website if you’d like to take a look. Even if you don’t pick up the book, just the title itself is a reminder that God desires a living, breathing friendship with you. He isn’t keeping you at a distance. He isn’t holding your mistakes against you. He wants to talk with you—about your disappointments, your delays, and your destiny.
Closing Thoughts
Beloved, don’t let deferred hope turn into despair. Don’t let the lies of the enemy deepen your disappointment. Instead, cast every care on the One who loves you more than you can fathom. Journal out your heart, lift your eyes to Him, and let His truth be the healing balm for your soul.
Father hasn’t forgotten you. He is closer than you think, and His answers—though they may look different than you expected—are soaked in love, wisdom, and perfect timing.
