Beloved, this morning as we were praying for you, a clear word came forward, it’s time to shake off the snake and cast it back into the fire from where it came.
This image comes straight from Acts 28, when the apostle Paul survives a shipwreck, reaches land exhausted and cold, and then faces an unexpected attack. As Paul gathers sticks to build a fire, a viper comes out of the heat and fastens itself to his hand. Those watching assume this must be justice catching up with him. Surely this man is finished now.
But Paul does something remarkable.
He doesn’t panic.
He doesn’t analyze.
He doesn’t internalize fear or accusation.
He simply shakes the serpent into the fire and continues on, unharmed.
Storms Don’t Mean You’re Off Course
As we prayed over this passage, it felt clear that this mirrors the season you’ve been walking through. There have been storms. There has been loss, confusion, and even a sense of shipwreck. Yet angels intervened. You were preserved. You made it to shore.
And just when it seemed like things might finally settle, another challenge appeared; unexpected, intimidating, and meant to stop the work of your hands.
That is not a sign you’re failing.
It’s often a sign you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
The enemy went after Paul’s hand because Paul’s hands were about to heal the sick, restore the broken, and advance the Kingdom. In the same way, what has tried to attach itself to you is not proof of weakness; it’s evidence of calling.
This Is Not a People Problem
Scripture reminds us in Ephesians 6 that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. What you are facing is not about people, personalities, or circumstances. It is a spiritual attempt to intimidate, distract, or slow your forward motion.
That’s why the response matters.
We bless people.
We walk in humility.
We remain kind and grounded.
But when fear, lies, intimidation, or condemnation attempt to latch onto your life, you do not negotiate with darkness. You shake it off, firmly and decisively, in the name of Jesus.

Breaking Old Mentalities
As we prayed, it felt important to name what must fall away in this season. Victim thinking. Orphan mentality. Poverty consciousness. Self-pity. These are not mantles God places on His children. They are yokes meant to restrict movement.
Paul could shake off the snake because he did not see himself as powerless, abandoned, or destined to fail. He knew who he was, and more importantly, whose he was.
You are not here to collapse under intimidation.
You are not meant to shrink back.
You are not destined to be taken out by something that emerged from the fire.
Authority With Humility
Jesus Himself reminds us in Luke 10 that we have been given authority over serpents and scorpions, over all the power of the enemy. Yet He also warns us not to become intoxicated by power.
The strength is not in our name.
The authority is in His name.
So we walk forward with confidence and humility together, strong against darkness, gentle with people, grounded in truth.
Peace Is Still Yours
Jesus said in John 16, “In this world you will have tribulation. But take courage, I have overcome the world.” What you are facing will not harm you. It cannot ultimately stop what God has ordained.
You are protected.
You are watched over.
You are kept.
This season of opposition is giving way to transition. The lies are losing their grip. The intimidation is weakening. And the path ahead is opening, not because you fought harder, but because you stood firm.
So shake it off, beloved.
Cast it back into the fire.
And keep moving forward in peace, strength, and humility.
Know that you are covered in prayer.
