You Are Not Your Thoughts: Resting in the Mind of Christ

Beloved, this word is for someone who has been struggling quietly in their mind.

If your thoughts have felt relentless lately, looping, intrusive, or heavy, this is an invitation to pause and sit with God for a moment. Not to fix anything. Not to force clarity. Just to rest.

As we were praying, there was a clear sense that something has been plaguing your mind, almost anchoring you to worry. And God, in His kindness, is meeting you right here.

Let Your Thoughts Be Acceptable, Not Perfect

Two scriptures came together so tenderly in prayer:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord.
— Psalm 19:14

And then:

Whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, gracious…think on these things.
— Philippians 4:8

God is not demanding perfection from your mind. He is inviting acceptability, a gentle turning toward what brings life, not condemnation.

When Thoughts Feel Stuck

There was a strong sense that some of you have been told, Don’t think about this. And suddenly, that’s all you can think about.

Like being told not to think of a polar bear and now you can’t stop seeing it.

This isn’t failure. It’s human.

Trying to control thoughts usually comes from fear. And fear is rooted in false beliefs, especially the belief that something is wrong with you.

God wants to heal that belief, not fight your thoughts.

God Is For You, Not Against You

As prayer continued, it felt like a veil lifting.

God is not disappointed in you.
You are not flawed beyond reach.
You are not under condemnation.

You are His beloved. The apple of His eye. He is fixated on you with love.

Anything telling you otherwise is a lie meant to keep you distant from Him.

You Are a New Creation

This truth came with great clarity:

If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old has passed away. The new has come.
— 2 Corinthians 5:17

You are not anchored to your past.
You are not defined by unwanted thoughts.
You are engrafted into Christ, secure and immovable.

The lie that says I am bad creates fear. Fear triggers control. Control multiplies the very thoughts you’re trying to escape.

Truth breaks the cycle.

Thoughts Are Vaporous. Let Them Pass.

Here is a freeing truth, thoughts are vaporous. They come and go.

You don’t have to wrestle them.
You don’t have to analyze them.
You don’t have to prove anything.

A thought can enter your mind without meaning anything about who you are.

Notice it.
Assess whether it serves you.
And if it doesn’t, let it go.

Don’t Let the Birds Nest

There was a quote that rose during prayer:

You cannot stop birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from nesting in your hair.

Thoughts may fly through. Let them.

They only gain power when we hold onto them.

Shift Gently to What Brings Joy

When a thought doesn’t edify, you are free to shift, not forcefully, but peacefully.

Think of:

  • A place that brings you joy
  • A moment you’re grateful for
  • A thought that immediately softens your heart

Have a go-to thought that brings peace. Let yourself roll gently toward it.

This isn’t denial. It’s wisdom.

You Have the Mind of Christ

God defines who you are.

You are His child.
The Kingdom of God lives within you.
You have the mind of Christ.

Heavenly wisdom is available whenever you ask.

As you rest in that truth, your mind begins to settle. Peace becomes your baseline.

Be at Peace…All Is Well

Negative thoughts come and go for all of us. They do not define you.

Let them pass like clouds.
Breathe. Relax.
All is well between you and God.

Think on what is praiseworthy. Not under pressure but with ease.

You are filled with the Prince of Peace.
You are spiritually awake.
You are one with God.

And know this, we are praying for you.
