When Your Plate Is Too Full and God Calls You Back to Wisdom

A tired mother working on a laptop while her children play around indoors, highlighting remote work challenges.

This morning, as we prayed for you, just as we do every day, there was an overwhelming sense that wisdom is what you need right now.

Not motivation.
Not more strength.
Not another push forward.

Wisdom.

It felt as though many of you are standing right at the edge, carrying far more than you were ever meant to carry alone. The old phrase came to mind, the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Not because you are weak, but because too much has piled on at once.

God Is Drawing You Back to Peace

As we prayed, this scripture rose to the surface:

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.
Your mercy and lovingkindness, O Lord, endure forever.
Forsake not the work of Your own hands.

— Psalm 138:8

There was such comfort in this. God is not asking you to fix everything. He is not asking you to carry what belongs to Him. He is reminding you that He finishes what He starts ✨.

You are His work. And He has not abandoned you.

A Season of Unusual Weight on Women

There was a strong sense that women in the body of Christ are under an unusual burden right now. Many are carrying responsibilities that once belonged to several people.

  • Sole breadwinners
  • Single mothers
  • Corporate leaders
  • Women balancing ministry, work, homeschooling, and caregiving

It felt like too many roles, too little margin, and an unrelenting intensity. Some are stepping into promotions while quietly battling the fear of not being able to sustain the pace.

And with that pressure, we sensed an increase in stress-based illness, beautiful bodies stretched too thin, weak places snapping under the strain.

Our prayer was simple and sincere…Lord, bring Your daughters back to peace.

Knowing the Season You’re In

As we prayed, we were reminded of the sons of Issachar, those who understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do. That same anointing is available to you.

Wisdom for this season looks like:

  • Knowing when to act
  • Knowing when to pause
  • Knowing when to say yes
  • And knowing when to say no

God is not impressed by exhaustion. He is drawn to obedience rooted in trust.

Let Nothing Terrify You

Another scripture came forward, steady and reassuring:

Do right and let nothing terrify you—
not giving way to hysterical fears or allowing anxieties to unnerve you.

— 1 Peter 3:6

Fear is loud in overwhelming seasons. It pressures you to rush, to overcommit, to prove yourself, to keep going no matter the cost.

But God invites you to move differently…grounded, steady, and anchored in His love.

Before You Take on More, Consider

The Proverbs 31 woman appears again, offering practical wisdom:

She considers a field before she buys it…
expanding prudently, not neglecting present duties.

— Proverbs 31:16

Before you take on something new, God gently asks you to look at what is already on your plate.

Is this the right thing?
Is this the right time?
Or is this a good thing for a different season?

Guard Your Nonnegotiables

There was a strong emphasis on returning to the essentials:

  • Time with the Lord
  • Rest
  • Nourishment
  • Balance in body and spirit

She rises while it is still night and receives spiritual nourishment.
— Proverbs 31:15

Your time with God is not optional. It is protective. It keeps your heart soft and your mind clear.

This season calls for real care…sleep, whole food, movement, stillness, and margin.

Be Well Balanced and Watchful

Scripture reminds us:

Be well balanced, sober-minded, and vigilant.
— 1 Peter 4:8

The enemy is personal. He knows your weak spots. He knows how to bait you into overextension, people-pleasing, and exhaustion.

That is why wisdom right now looks like discernment, learning where to say no, where to pause, and where to wait.

A Simple Practice of Wisdom

One practical piece of wisdom was shared: a pause.

Instead of immediately agreeing to requests, give yourself time:

  • Pray
  • Listen
  • Seek the Father’s heart

Sometimes wisdom simply says, I need a few days to pray about this.

That pause can protect you from stepping into the wrong season.

God Is Completing His Work in You

The promise remains:

Christ Himself will complete and establish you, strengthen and settle you.
— 1 Peter 4:10

Even in pressure.
Even in refinement.
Even in the fire.

God is forming something beautiful in you, gold refined, fear burned away, faith strengthened.

Stay close to Him. Stay anchored. Let nothing terrify you.

We are praying for you, beloved. And you are not alone.
